Wood-Fired Pottery

In addition to the Sgraffitto Pottery production work, Katherine creates a special collection of wood-fired work using a newly built Noborigama kiln in Seargeantville, NJ. This wood kiln is fueled by stoking the fire with wood over a 12–16 hour period. The temperature reaches near 2400° F. This pottery reflects the character and material properties of the fire and ash present during the firing cycle. Each piece is a unique collaboration between the artist and the kiln.  The kiln is fired once or twice a year and the resulting work is pleasantly unpredicatble.  This work is available only at Katherine's studio and cannot be ordered in advance as the results always vary.
