Brushwork

Katherine has recently started a new line of Brushwork Pottery.  Each piece is hand–thrown on her potter's wheel from a fine porcelain clay.  The imagery focuses on a variety of food crops, botanical motifs and animals.  The decorative work is accomplished by using traditional Japanese brushes to apply strong black underglazes and light washes of grey on the smooth white porcelain pieces.  All the images are sketched and brushed onto each piece freehand. All of Katherine's pottery is finished with a transparent glaze and is dishwasher and microwave safe.

The Gallery below shows many examples of work produced in the Brushwork Pottery line, however is not a comprehensive display.  The forms and the decoarative imagery are continually changing.
