Bayonne 45th Street Station

Katherine Hackl's 51' long tile installation at the Bayonne 45th St. Station of the Hudson–Bergen Light Rail Line is a community art project. The project was made possible by New Jersey State Council of the Arts, NJTransit and the active volunteer work of the Bayonne public school system. Katherine worked with all twelve elementary schools and the high school of Bayonne. Each class worked on images of the Bayonne Park. Katherine provided all the necessary materials and tools to teach and guide the students through designing and producing the hundreds of star shaped tiles. All these tiles were brought back to the Swan Street Studio to be glazed and fired.
